  • Rel Qual Trajectories - send to W & P - do we want this to be a paper?; long-term, figure out a way to run alphas on only the analytic sample; no tables proofed
  • General TARS - sex w/a partner - looks like in w1 w/LP we have people who waid no or were skipped out of the "did you" Q, but then gave a valid date - look across waves, fix all of these

Hi Ph.D. students - It's time to sign up for the January round of the preliminary examinations. All exams will be given during the week prior to the beginning of spring semester classes: January 2-4, 2008. If you intend to take your major area exam during this period, please notify me in writing (email is fine) no later than November 20. An up-to-date TDP must be filed with the Graduate College prior to taking the exam You also must file an application to take the examination. This application form is available from Pat Carpenter and you should submit it to the Graduate College along with your TDP as soon as possible. It is your responsibility to apply to the Graduate College for the appointment this faculty representative before the exam is taken. The Graduate College has emphasized that a preliminary examination taken under conditions that do not conform to this requirement may be declared invalid (i.e., you will have to re-take the exam!). After receiving your application and TDP, the Graduate College will assign an at-large Graduate Faculty Representative to the exam committee. The Graduate College requires full participation of the Graduate Faculty Representative in the examination process, including the opportunity to submit questions and evaluate answers. Please remind the Area Chair of your examination committee that it is his/her responsibility to solicit questions from the Graduate Faculty Representative prior to the exam. Whether s/he submits questions or not (they never do), the Graduate Faculty Representative must be a reader of the examination, be involved in any and all deliberations, and must sign the appropriate form notifying the Graduate College that the exam has been completed.
